Eight months after the Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė met with South Korean investors, SK E&S, one of the largest oil and gas companies in Asia, announced that it is seriously considering expanding its operations in Lithuania.

‘We are pleased that after a meeting with the leaders of SK Group, a South Korean business corporation in the autumn of this year, we have today received the company’s assurance that Lithuania is being considered as a potential country for the expansion of its European operations. We have no doubt that the interest of one of South Korea’s business giants in Lithuania will lead to even closer cooperation in the future’, said Armonaitė, after the meeting with the head of SK E&S.

SK E&S, a South Korean energy company, today also signed an agreement with Klaipėdos Nafta on cooperation opportunities in the development of international LNG business.

In September last year, Armonaitė met with the heads of SK Group, the second largest South Korean business corporation, and invited them to invest in Lithuania.

SK E&S is a South Korean energy and gas company with global operations, focusing on natural gas and renewable energy. The company was founded in 1980 and has since grown to become one of the largest oil and gas companies in Asia.

Lithuania has consistently sought to build closer economic relations with South Korea – the Lithuanian Embassy has been operating there since 2021, and the Lithuanian Commercial Attaché started working in South Korea in 2022.
