The Ministry of the Economic and Innovation has announced a vacancy for a Lithuanian Commercial Attaché in Singapore. The new Commercial Attaché is expected to strengthen bilateral foreign direct investment, export and cooperation opportunities between Lithuania and Singapore.

"Lithuania needs to find new opportunities and markets to introduce its services and products. Due to changes in foreign economic policies, the international trade situation, fragile value chains and the geopolitical situation in the region, we are focusing more on diversifying our markets and on the South-East Asia region. This will help Lithuania to be more visible and attractive to investors, and the new Commercial Attaché in Singapore is another important step towards this goal," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

The position of Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Singapore is open to persons with a bachelor's degree in law, business, economics or political science and at least two years of experience in international cooperation. Applicants must have a minimum level of C1 English.

Full eligibility requirements and other information are available here. Applications will be accepted up to and including 27 October.

Singapore is one of Lithuania's priority markets for foreign direct investment, exports and innovation cooperation.  In 2021, Singapore ranked 29th among Lithuania's 208 trading partners in terms of trade turnover.

Last year, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to €266 million and exports of Lithuanian goods grew by around 350% to €255 million. Singapore's direct investment in Lithuania amounts to €28.2 million, ranking it 33rd.

Lithuania currently has 18 commercial attachés in the following countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, Norway, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, Ukraine and  South Korea. As part of the expansion of its attaché network, Lithuania aims to increase the number of commercial attachés to 23 by 2024.

Competitions are currently underway for commercial attachés in Poland, Sweden and France, and the Ministry will shortly be launching a competition for a commercial attaché in Denmark.
