Minister of Economy Birutė Vėsaitė to discuss in Dublin Jobs and Growth in Europe

On 3 May Lithuanian Minister of Economy Birutė Vėsaitė will participate in the Informal Meeting of EU Industry Ministers in Dublin. The overall theme for the Informal Competitiveness Council meeting is “Innovative Pathways to Jobs and Growth”. The Ministers will discuss the opportunities for entrepreneurship in Europe and the improvement of business conditions.

Lithuanian Minister of Economy Birutė Vėsaitė will moderate the Break-out Session of the meeting “Entrepreneurship – Cities and Regions (Clusters) as drivers of entrepreneurship, innovation, economic growth and jobs”.

In this Break-out Session the Ministers will try to answer why some regions are more successful in attracting talents and well-paid jobs than others, what causes the concentration of certain economic activities, and what policies can support regions to become hotspots for entrepreneurship in specific fields.

The Irish Presidency will call the EU Industry Ministers for discussion on the initiatives of the Commission and the European Council for the implementation of structural economic reforms. The Ministers will exchange views on Mutually Agreed Contracts for Competitiveness and Growth. The Irish Presidency will summarize the discussion and report the reflections of the Ministers to the President of the European Council.
