Minister of Economy Mindaugas Sinkevičius will be presenting Lithuania‘s life sciences sector in the US

On 18–23 June 2017, Minister of Economy Mindaugas Sinkevičius along with a business delegation and representative from public body Enterprise Lithuania will make a working visit to the US. For the first time in the country’s history the Lithuanian Minister of Economy is invited to open the largest in the world life sciences forum ‘BIO International Convention 2017’ and present the potential and development of Lithuania’s life sciences sector to actual and potential science and business partners.

During the life sciences forum, meetings will be held with representatives from the US, Japan, Belgium, India and Germany. More than 20 000 participants from 65 countries are expected to be present at the event. 

During the visit, a cooperation agreement will be signed with Berlin Partner for Technologies, which is a business and technology agency and which will ensure close bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Germany in the field of life sciences. The German delegation is expected to be so far the largest life sciences delegation in the next year’s Life Sciences Baltics 2018 from the country, which is an especially important export partner for Lithuania.  

The representatives of Lithuania have also been invited to the Innovation Hubs session of the BIO International Convention 2017 forum; at the session, the infrastructure of our country’s life sciences sector, the international cooperation potential as well as the Life Sciences Baltics 2018 forum to be held in Lithuania will be introduced.

‘We are ready to present the progress in life sciences in Lithuania and to offer products and services created in Lithuania to the global life sciences market,’ Minister Sinkevičius said.

In the US, meetings of Minister Sinkevičius are planned with key representatives of the Silicon Valley’s start-up ecosystems and the most innovative and globally important companies, like Hyperloop One.

To attract global investments to Lithuania we have developed a number of feasibility studies which we will present during our visit,’ Minister Sinkevičius stressed. 

The business and science delegation led by Minister Sinkevičius will also be visiting one of the best world’s universities in Stanford to discuss and share practices on how to promote youth entrepreneurship and commercialise  scientific ideas seeking for Lithuania to achieve ambitious objective and become the start-up heaven in Eastern Europe.
