Aušrinė Armonaitė Discusses Ryanair's Future Plans in Lithuania

During her visit to Ireland, Aušrinė Armonaitė, Lithuania's Minister of Economy and Innovation, met with representatives from Ryanair to talk about the airline’s expansion strategies in Central and Eastern Europe. Ryanair has been on an expansion spree, investing in new aircraft and setting up aircraft maintenance centers. In particular, Ryanair currently has 2 bases and 5 aircraft based in Lithuania which amount up to a investment of $500M.

"Ryanair is making significant contributions to our strategic objectives of expanding air transport links with Europe," Minister Armonaitė noted. "We discussed the airline's future flight routes and their investment plans in Lithuania. Ryanair has made remarkable contributions to the Lithuanian economy with 51 routes carrying millions of passengers in summer 2024. The Lithuanian air transport sector is experiencing growth, bolstered by strong local and foreign companies and a rising number of highly skilled professionals in aviation engineering and mechanics."

Last year, Ryanair won another land lease tender at Kaunas Airport, managed by Lithuanian Airports, and since built additional two aircraft maintenance and repair hangars. Ryanair is commited to continue operating their hangars by attracting young engeneering talent.

Ryanair, one of Europe’s largest budget airlines, serves over 250 destinations across more than 40 countries, with over 3,600 daily flights. The airline offers numerous routes from Lithuanian airports and is committed to sustainability, investing in fuel-efficient aircraft.
