Kristupas Stankus, the new Lithuanian Commercial Attaché to Finland, took up his post on Monday, 4 September.
"Lithuania and Finland have an intensive and dynamic economic partnership and Finland is an important economic partner of Lithuania. Last year, Finland ranked 16th among Lithuania's 211 trading partners and became the 14th largest export market for Lithuanian goods. I have no doubt that the appointment of a new Commercial Attaché in Finland will further increase export opportunities and strengthen Lithuania's position in attracting more investment," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
Finland is a priority market for exports and innovation cooperation, investment attraction and inbound tourism. In 2022, trade between the two countries amounted to EUR 2.1 billion. Compared to 2021, turnover increased by 22.6%.
In 2022, the main Lithuanian exports to Finland were base metals and their products, plastics and industrial products. The main goods imported from Finland were machinery and mechanical appliances, mineral and chemical products.
"As Commercial Attaché in Finland, I plan to focus on manufacturing and related services. The most important objectives remain the promotion of export of Lithuanian goods, attraction of manufacturing investments of advanced Finnish companies and the establishment of engineering and R&D centres of these companies in Lithuania," says K. Stankus.
K. Stankus has experience in investment and trade, having previously worked for Invest Lithuania, Lidl Poland and Lidl Lithuania. K. Stankus holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Philosophy from Bayreuth University.
Please note that Arūnas Karlonas, Commercial Attaché in Singapore, and Martyna Budnikaitė, Commercial Attaché in Norway, also started their work in August.
