Data Governance
- Open data is one of the top priorities. Lithuania has successfully launched the National Model of Data Opening aimed at better access to high-quality data for business and society needs. The model is based on the integration of state information resources (information systems and registers) into the “State Data Lake” and centralization of data opening process. All state institutions are obliged to open state-owned data upon user demand provided through one centralized portal. It can be mentioned that Lithuania (together with Estonia, Denmark, Latvia, and Slovenia) leads among EU Member States in opening high-value data sets. The Lithuanian open data portal currently publishes more than 2,600 open data sets, of which more than 380 are high-value data sets.
- Lithuania is also performing Data Governance Reform aimed at more effective data exchange among public authorities. A qualitative new data governance model is being developed – it will enable to use common information systems, ensure data quality, share data and create user-friendly electronic services. It is important that this model will help to ensure data compatibility not only with the Lithuanian information systems, but also with the information systems of other institutions in the EU member states. Europe's competitiveness and sovereignty can only be achieved through the greatest possible interoperability, the development of electronic services, and technological independence from third countries.
