1 billion for the Lithuanian economy: €20 million to develop digital and technological solutions

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation announces a €20 million call for the development of smart digital and technological solutions. This includes €10 million each for managers and administrators of the State Information System or the State Register, both in the capital and in the regions of Central and Western Lithuania.

"Lithuania is one of the most digitised countries in the world. Lithuanian citizens already have access to many public services, such as registering with a doctor or starting a new company online. We want to strengthen this competitive advantage of our country and offer more convenient services to Lithuanian citizens. This investment will create more opportunities for Lithuanians to use convenient and easily accessible services," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

According to the European Commission's European eGovernment Benchmark 2023, Lithuania ranks 7th in the leading group of countries with the most technologically advanced public e-services.

Applicants for this measure are managers and administrators of a state information system or state register. Project partners are public legal entities. The maximum amount of funding available per project is EUR 1.5 million.

"The development of new innovative tools and technological solutions will further strengthen Lithuania's status as a leader in digital services in Europe. These tools and technologies will make it easier for all citizens and businesses to use them when working on computers and other smart devices. This will further strengthen our digital capabilities," said Iveta Paludnevičiūtė, Chancellor of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.

Project implementation plans can be submitted to the Central Project Management Agency until 31 January 2024.

The full terms and conditions of the call are available on the European Union Investment website.

In order to strengthen the Lithuanian economy, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is launching calls for proposals for funded activities with a total value of almost €1 billion until the end of 2023. Around €365 million is earmarked for business, innovation and investment, €320 million for the digitalisation of government and business and €268 million for a greener economy.

The measure will be implemented within the framework of the Investment Programme for European Union Funds for the period 2021-2027.
