8.36 million euros have been allocated to electricity grid expansion projects in Lithuanian municipalities

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation has allocated 8.36 million euros in funding to eight municipal projects aimed at developing electricity grid infrastructure leading to and within investment plots. The funding will help ensure the necessary electricity capacity for businesses, increase the regions’ investment attractiveness, and create better conditions for new high-value-added investments.

“By investing in high-quality infrastructure, we are building the competitive advantage of Lithuania’s regions, shortening the time it takes to implement investment projects, and increasing the country’s appeal to international investors. We are working to ensure that by 2030, at least 30 percent of new investments flow specifically to the regions. This is one of the most important goals of Lithuania’s economic transformation plan, ‘3i’,” says Edvinas Grikšas, Acting Minister of Economy and Innovation.

Funding is allocated for the development of plots located in free economic zones, industrial parks, and other industrial areas.

The largest amount – up to 5.63 million euros – is earmarked for the construction of infrastructure to extend the Radviliškis District Municipality’s power grid to the boundaries of the investment plot.

Up to 1.29 million euros has been allocated to the Kėdainiai District Municipality for the renovation and development of public engineering infrastructure; up to 668,700 euros to the Vilnius City Municipality to increase the electrical capacity of the Innovation Industrial Park; and the Kaunas District Municipality has been allocated up to 334 thousand euros for the expansion of the electricity grid infrastructure to meet the investment needs of the Kaunas FEZ.

The Klaipėda City Municipality has been allocated up to 163,400 euros to build a new 28 MW electrical substation; the Šiauliai City Municipality has been allocated up to 133,600 euros to increase electrical capacity in the Šiauliai FEZ; the Lazdijai District Municipality has been allocated up to 121 thousand euros to attract investments for the development of electricity infrastructure, and the Kaunas City Municipality has been allocated up to 16.9 thousand euros to install infrastructure for the expansion of the electricity grid to the Kaunas Aleksotas Innovation Industrial Park.
