A. Armonaitė and Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania to discuss solutions to improve housing accessibility in Lithuania

Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė will meet today with the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Gediminas Šimkus to discuss the situation of housing accessibility in Lithuania and solutions to improve housing accessibility in the long term. During the meeting, the Minister will also discuss other topical issues with the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, including the development of the financial sector.

"Accessibility of housing is a very important issue to which we pay a lot of attention. Housing accessibility contributes to the quality of life in the country, ensures economic stability and increases Lithuania's attractiveness for investors and foreign talent. While accessibility in our country is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels in the coming years, we need a sustainable and long-term strategy for housing accessibility," said Minister of the Economy and Innovation A.Armonaitė.

On average, it takes 6 annual salaries to buy a house in Lithuania and 7 in Vilnius. This remains one of the better rates in the EU.
