A. Armonaitė and OHB SE CEO discuss cooperation with Lithuanian companies

Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė and Marco Fuchs, CEO of the German space company OHB SE, discussed opportunities for increased cooperation with Lithuanian companies and strengthening Europe's competitiveness in the space sector.

"The development of the space sector is crucial both for tackling climate change and for strengthening European security. We discussed with OHB, which is already working with innovative Lithuanian companies, how we can expand our cooperation. The rapidly growing global market and the increasing demand for space services create the conditions for the development of innovative space technologies," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

The meeting also focused on the development of the European space industry and increasing its global competitiveness, as well as the development of new satellites and space technologies, including in the fields of defence and security.

Together with the Lithuanian companies Geomatrix and Coetus, OHB is implementing a project initiated by the European Space Agency for the Baltic Sea Region (Baltic GTIF) to combat climate change. The project is developing services for the public sector using satellite earth observation data: monitoring of urban heat zones, monitoring of forests, calculation of carbon dioxide emissions and a tool to help farmers adapt to changes caused by climate change.

OHB is one of Europe's leading space and technology companies. OHB develops and builds satellites and spacecraft for the entire spectrum of modern space missions. The company has positioned itself as a major provider of aerospace structures and is the largest German supplier for the European Ariane programme. The company also actively participates in the programmes of the European Space Agency and the European Defence Fund.

OHB representatives also took part in the Vilnius Space Days 2024.
