A competition for the position of Lithuanian Commercial Attaché in Germany has been announced

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation is announcing a competition to fill the position of Lithuanian Commercial Attaché in Berlin, Germany. The new Commercial Attaché will be responsible for implementing Lithuania’s economic policy in the areas of exports, investment, inbound tourism, innovation, and technological cooperation.

“Germany is the largest foreign investor in Lithuania and one of our most important trading partners. Therefore, strong economic representation of Lithuania in this market is of utmost importance. The new commercial attaché will actively represent Lithuania’s economic interests, help Lithuanian businesses expand their connections in Germany, and contribute to the growth of exports and investments. These are responsibilities that offer the opportunity to create long-term value for the Lithuanian economy,” says Edvinas Grikšas, acting Minister of Economy and Innovation.

Individuals with a university degree (bachelor’s degree) or an equivalent higher education qualification may apply for the position of Lithuanian Commercial Attaché in Germany. Candidates must have a degree in law, business, economics, or political science, or at least two years of work experience in international cooperation. Applicants must also have a proficiency in German of at least C1 level and in English of at least B2 level.

The Commercial Attaché in Germany will represent Lithuania’s economic interests, analyze trends in the German market, and provide up-to-date information to Lithuanian institutions and businesses. He or she will also maintain contacts with German institutions and business organizations, assist Lithuanian companies in finding new partners, promote the export of Lithuanian goods and services, attract investment, and foster innovation and technological cooperation, as well as contribute to the promotion of inbound tourism to Lithuania.

Germany is one of Lithuania’s most important economic partners. In 2025, bilateral trade volume reached 8.9 billion euros, with Lithuanian exports of goods to Germany totaling 3.3 billion euros and exports of services totaling 3.7 billion euros. Germany is also the largest foreign investor in Lithuania—at the end of 2025, accumulated direct investment stood at 5.9 billion euros. In addition, more than 154,000 tourists from Germany visited Lithuania in 2024, spending 117.5 million euros in our country.
 
Currently, 21 specialists work in Lithuania’s network of commercial attachés and trade representatives, representing Lithuania’s economic interests in key foreign markets.
