A new industrial park has been established in Utena: EIMIN has signed an agreement with the municipality
The process of establishing a new 20.5-hectare industrial park in Utena has been officially completed—the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) has signed an agreement with the Utena District Municipality regarding the implementation of the project.
“The Utena Industrial Park is an investment in the region’s long-term economic success. It will feature modern infrastructure designed for companies engaged in high-value-added manufacturing. This means new jobs, greater competitiveness for local businesses, and broader opportunities to attract investors. We estimate that the project will create about 310 new jobs and attract €53.2 million in investments,” says Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas.
The Utena District Municipality emphasizes that the establishment of the industrial park is a significant boost to the local economy and business environment, and that the project will bring long-term benefits to the city and the residents of the Utena region.
“The industrial park will make Utena an even more attractive destination for investors and strengthen the city’s competitiveness. We are working consistently to ensure that the infrastructure needed for the Utena Industrial Park is developed using European Union funds,” says Marijus Kaukėnas, mayor of the Utena District Municipality.
The Utena Industrial Park is located on state-owned land in the southeastern part of the city of Utena, within an industrial zone. In this area, priority is given to manufacturing activities (the food industry, plastics processing and manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, metalworking, and other modern types of manufacturing). The development of smaller-scale defense and military industries, which do not require large security zones or special regulations, is also important.
The planned plots reflect a sustainable and strategically justified direction for development – they harmoniously complement the existing industrial structure, strengthen territorial coherence, and contribute to the city’s economic growth potential.
