Aušrinė Armonaitė: The Ukrainians will be able to find a job in Lithuania more easily

Lithuania has simplified employment procedures for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country. Moreover, at the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, the main job search portals in Lithuania will now filter their job advertisements according to whether the proposed job is suitable for Ukrainian war refugees staying in Lithuania.

In response to the war in Ukraine with possibly large numbers of refugees as a result, Lithuania has urgently simplified the rules on immigration, applying for asylum, residence and employment permit for Ukrainian citizens. Individuals who enjoy a visa-free regime or hold a visa, residence permit or who have applied for asylum in Lithuania will be able to start working immediately. The majority of those who arrived in Lithuania are women and children; men have stayed in Ukraine to protect their country.

“I thank all job search portals who have responded very quickly to our encouragement to help people coming to Lithuania from Ukraine to find a job as quickly as possible,’ says Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė.

Functional changes are already in process by the largest job ad portals CVonline, CVmarket and CVbankas, Work in Lithuania and International House Vilnius service centre.  Job advertisements for Ukrainians are also available on the Employment Service webpage.

The most important information for Ukrainians coming from the war zone and looking for a job is also available on the International House Vilnius website: https://ihvilnius.lt/.
