By invitation of E. Macron, Minister E. Grikšas will represent Lithuania at a space summit in Paris
Edvinas Grikšas, Minister of Economy and Innovation, will visit Paris on September 9–10 on a working visit, where, by invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, he will represent Lithuania at the International Space Summit. Lithuania, along with other countries, will sign five international declarations aimed at strengthening responsible space activities and international cooperation in the field of science.
“Our goal is for Lithuania to establish itself among the countries developing cutting-edge space solutions. We have strong companies, talent, and expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence, lasers, and satellite technologies, so in Paris we will showcase Lithuania’s potential and seek to open up more opportunities for the Lithuanian space industry to grow in the global market,” says Minister of Economy and Innovation E. Grikšas.
Representatives from approximately 120 countries – including policymakers, international organizations, and representatives from the scientific and business communities – will gather in Paris.
Minister E. Grikšas will participate in a discussion on advanced space technologies and will present Lithuania’s achievements in the fields of lasers, photonics, optical communications, small satellites, and artificial intelligence, as well as the country’s readiness to play a significant role in the European space industry. This will be followed by a speech by French President E. Macron and an official reception.
E. Grikšas will also participate in the official meeting of delegation heads and the plenary session. The main focus will be on the space economy, science and research, and space security. In addition, during the meeting, Lithuania, together with other countries, will sign five international declarations on space policy, sustainability, and scientific cooperation.
During his visit to Paris, the minister will also meet with Rodrigo da Costa, Executive Director of the European Space Agency, to discuss the priorities of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the field of space.
E. Grikšas will also attend a dinner hosted by French President E. Macron on the occasion of the International Space Summit.
