EIMIN: 36 companies and organisations join initiative to attract Lithuanian talent from abroad
36 companies and organisations have now joined the Diaspora Friendly Employer initiative, which aims to attract Lithuanian talent from abroad to our country. They include the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation and the Innovation Agency. The Diaspora Friendly Employer initiative includes remote job interviews with Lithuanians living abroad, smooth start-up, relocation and integration support.
"At the moment, Lithuania is particularly in need of talented and professional people. To achieve this, we can also use foreign Lithuanians who have been educated or gained work experience abroad. By creating the best conditions for their return to Lithuania, the Ministry is also implementing the Diaspora Friendly Employer initiative, which promotes a more effective international recruitment culture in our country," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
Currently, 14 companies and organisations have joined the Diaspora-friendly employer initiative in the Vilnius region. 8 companies and organisations have joined the initiative in Kaunas region, 7 in Klaipėda region, 5 in Šiauliai region and 2 in Panevėžys region.
"The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation and its subordinate institutions - the Innovation Agency and the public enterprise "Invest Lithuania" - are already recruiting and inviting foreign Lithuanians returning to our country to actively apply for vacancies. Talents can also choose careers in IT, energy, pharmaceuticals, transport, engineering and other businesses. Foreigners are motivated by the desire to work and create for Lithuania, the high quality of life in our country and the career opportunities in world-renowned foreign and Lithuanian companies and start-ups," says Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen, Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

Those who sign a declaration of compliance with at least three criteria will receive a special Diaspora Friendly Employer label. This label indicates the value position of the company or organisation - openness and internationalism - towards potential employees - foreign Lithuanians.
The criteria that companies or organisations have to meet include the possibility to conduct job interviews, employee selection and teleworking, as well as an intercultural working environment and an open and inclusive working atmosphere. Equally important is the onboarding process, which includes assistance with relocation and integration into Lithuania and the work environment.
The initiative, run by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation together with the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, the Employment Service, Global Lithuanian Leaders and the World Lithuanian Community, the Diaspora and businesses, encourages Lithuanians living abroad to choose a career in Lithuania.
For the past four years in a row, more Lithuanians have returned to Lithuania than have left. According to the State Data Agency, 17.5 thousand citizens returned to Lithuania in 2023.
