EIMIN: ISDC changes to start

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is launching structural changes to the Information Society Development Committee (ISDC) to improve the efficient management of public sector information resources and public electronic services.

"One of our main goals is to improve and expand digital public services for citizens and businesses. Although we are among the leaders in Europe in terms of digitisation and our digital public services are rated among the best, we need to go further. We are reviewing the structure of our current institution in order to make decisions that will ensure the quality management of digitisation projects and services and the introduction of new innovative digital solutions," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

According to the institution's director, Tomas Misevičius, the institution's functions and responsibilities have expanded over the years, and the structural changes are being implemented to ensure effective management and coordination of the state's digital resources and projects, as well as more efficient use of the funds allocated for digitisation.

"Adopting the best practices of IT companies, we will continue to focus on electronic and IT services and professional customer service. The structural changes are necessary to improve the efficiency of the Agency's operations and processes, to prepare for further development of the Agency - growth of services, projects and team, and to perform new functions in the field of development and maintenance of digital solutions for the public sector," says Tomas Misevičius.

According to Erika Kuročkina, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the changes in the agency are a process that has been underway for several years. One of the planned stages is to change the name of the institution. The new name - State Agency for Digital Solutions - more accurately reflects the agency's functions and objectives. The Ministry's proposal was approved by the Government today.

"The name change is one of the stages of change. There is still a lot of work to be done. The State Agency for Digital Solutions has the highest goal - to be the best and most innovative public institution and to maintain Lithuania's leadership in digitalisation. I believe that with the current team we will achieve a lot," said Deputy Minister Erika Kuročkina.

The State Agency for Digital Solutions is involved in formulating the state policy on digitisation, information communication and technology and coordinating its implementation. The Agency is also responsible for the development of the information society, the implementation of digital solutions, the effective management of state information resources, national electronic identification, data openness and other areas.
