EIMIN Minister E. Grikšas visits CERN headquarters in Geneva: strengthening cooperation in the high-tech sector
Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas is visiting Geneva on January 19-21 for a working visit, where he will meet with representatives of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to discuss opportunities for Lithuanian business and science involvement. The minister will also participate in an event organized by CERN aimed at strengthening cooperation between Lithuania and CERN in the fields of high technology, science, and innovation.
"Lithuania is already taking firm steps towards the development of high technologies and innovations. Cooperation with CERN provides our companies and scientists with opportunities to participate in the most advanced international projects, which increases our competitiveness and opens up new export markets. We want as many Lithuanian high value-added companies as possible to become part of this ecosystem," says Minister of Economy and Innovation E. Grikšas.
The event "Strengthening Lithuania–CERN Partnerships for Europe's High–Tech Future" will discuss further areas for cooperation between Lithuania and CERN, opportunities for industry involvement, the development of research and innovation, and the economic benefits of large infrastructure projects. A discussion with representatives of European institutions, science, and business on further strategic steps to strengthen Lithuania's participation in international science and technology projects is also planned.
During the visit, a meeting with the CERN procurement team is also planned, during which broader opportunities for Lithuanian companies to participate in CERN procurement and technological projects will be discussed, with a purpose to increase the country's business involvement in the international innovation chain. Strengthening this partnership is an important part of the development of Lithuania's high-tech sector.
The minister is visiting Geneva together with a delegation from the President of the Republic of Lithuania, representatives of the Innovation Agency, and a Lithuanian business delegation assembled by them.
