EIMIN: New Commercial Attaché to the Republic of Korea begins work
The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) has appointed Edgaras Vainauskas as the new Lithuanian Commercial Attaché to the Republic of Korea.
'The Republic of Korea is a strategically important market for Lithuanian exports, innovation and tourism in the East Asian region. Recently, cooperation in the fields of life sciences, lasers, and other high technologies has increased, and we see great potential for expanding the partnership by creating joint projects and seeking new business opportunities. We hope that the new commercial attaché will help further strengthen the business ecosystems of both countries and open up new avenues," said the Minister of the Economy and Innovation, Edvinas Grikšas.
E. Vainauskas has over ten years' experience working internationally – he has worked as a sales manager for various start-ups in the Baltic countries and as a project manager for investment attraction at Invest Lithuania.
'The Republic of Korea and Lithuania are relatively small but innovative countries that can develop advanced economies. We have a strong foundation for further developing our economic ties in the fields of financial technology, life sciences, lasers and space. I believe that, through purposeful collaboration, we can realise mutually beneficial projects and investments," said E. Vainauskas, the new commercial attaché to the Republic of Korea.
E. Vainauskas holds a bachelor's degree in Management from Vilnius University and a Master's degree from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.
According to data from the State Data Agency, trade between the two countries reached €226.2 million between January and September 2025. During this period, Lithuanian exports to the Republic of Korea amounted to €72.8 million (€49.8 million of which were exports of goods of Lithuanian origin), while imports amounted to €153.4 million.
