EIMIN will distribute €8.2 million to municipalities for infrastructure projects
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) will distribute €8.2 million to the country’s municipalities for regional infrastructure development projects. The aim is to increase the attractiveness of municipal investment sites and create more favorable conditions for investors to establish businesses in the regions.
“High-quality infrastructure that meets investors’ needs is one of the key conditions for regions to compete for new investments. That is why we have planned to allocate a total of 16.6 million euros in several phases this year. By allocating this funding, we aim to help municipalities prepare investment-ready sites more quickly—this will increase the attractiveness of investment plots, create an easier and faster path for investors to start operations, and ensure that 30% of investments reach the regions by 2030,” says Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas.
Local government administrations across the country may apply for funding for projects aimed at infrastructure development—including the construction of engineering structures, energy facilities, communication networks, and other necessary infrastructure. Under an earlier call for proposals issued this year for the installation of electricity grid infrastructure up to and/or within the boundaries of investment sites, applications totaling €8.4 million were received. The evaluation of these applications is currently underway.
Last year, funding under this measure was allocated to 26 infrastructure development projects with a total value of €17.9 million.
