L. Savickas visits Copenhagen: Focus on Green Energy and EU Competitiveness

Minister of the Economy and Innovation, Lukas Savickas, will visit Copenhagen, Denmark, on 17–18 July to participate in an informal meeting of European Union ministers responsible for the internal market and industry (COMPET). During the visit, the minister will also meet with Danish business and political representatives.

'Lithuania and Denmark have a long-standing partnership, which is strengthened further by our collaboration in green energy and innovation. This visit is an opportunity to not only continue existing projects, but also to open up new areas of investment that are important for our economies and Europe's competitiveness as a whole," said the Minister.

During the visit, he will meet with representatives of the Danish renewable energy company European Energy. They are expected to discuss the company's projects in Lithuania, the country's commitment to the green agenda and the expansion plans for a methanol plant.

Later, the minister will visit the prestigious Niels Bohr Institute, where he will meet key figures in the Danish quantum research community, learn about their latest scientific achievements and visit Niels Bohr's historic office.

The main informal COMPET Council events will take place on 18 July. The minister will participate in working sessions discussing entrepreneurship and industrial transformation in the European Union. The plenary session will address issues related to strengthening the EU's competitiveness and clean energy industry.

Bilateral meetings with representatives of Germany and Poland are also planned during the visit to discuss cooperation in public procurement.

In 2024, bilateral trade in goods between Lithuania and Denmark amounted to €1.54 billion, and in the first five months of 2025 alone, it reached €646.3 million.
