Minister E. Grikšas to discuss closer economic ties with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade in Istanbul

On May 4–5 this year, the Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas, together with a Lithuanian business delegation, is visiting Istanbul, where he will meet with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade Omer Bolat and participate in the second meeting of the Joint Lithuania–Türkiye Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO), discussing the strengthening of bilateral economic cooperation.

“Lithuania–Türkiye bilateral trade has already reached nearly EUR 860 million. This reflects mature and mutually beneficial economic ties between our countries. However, we see even greater potential – both in strengthening trade and expanding investments and joint projects. Our goal is not only to increase volumes but also to purposefully open new opportunities for Lithuanian businesses in high value-added sectors,” says Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas.

During the visit, Minister Grikšas will attend one of the largest international defense and aerospace industry exhibitions in the region, SAHA 2026, where Lithuanian businesses are also participating – 8 companies and organizations from the country’s defense and high-tech sectors. This year, the exhibition will bring together more than 1,500 companies, over 500 official delegations, and more than 150,000 participants from around the world.

In 2025, Türkiye ranked 20th in Lithuania’s trade turnover and exports, and 22nd in imports.

The largest share of Lithuanian-origin exports to Türkiye consisted of metal industry products, as well as machinery, equipment and transport vehicles, and food industry products. Imports from Türkiye mainly included metal industry products, machinery and equipment, transport vehicles, and textile products.
