T. Misevičius elected Director of the Information Society Development Committee
Tomas Misevičius, who has many years of management experience, has been elected Director of the Information Society Development Committee (ISDC) under the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation. The new director will take up his duties once the vetting procedures have been completed.
"The digitalisation of the state and the economy is one of the ministry's priorities, and the ISDC is by far the most important implementer of ICT policy at national level. I am sure that the new head, with his experience as a solid manager and his contribution to the digitalisation of enterprises, will ensure that the digitalisation policy is formulated smoothly and expeditiously, and that IT processes are designed, implemented and managed," said Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė.
The main objective of the ISDC is to implement the State's policy on the development of the information society and the management of the re-use of State information resources and documents.
"The ISDC makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the State's information and communication technologies and digital policies, and I am pleased to join and strengthen the team to ensure an even faster implementation of our State's digitisation initiatives. If we want to be first - and we have a short way to go - we will have to work hard to ensure that our State's information resources, data management and e-services are the most advanced in Europe," says T. Misevičius, who has been appointed as the new head.
T. Misevičius holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology. Previously, T. Misevičius held the position of Director of Information Technology at Kesko Senukai Lithuania, as well as the positions of Head of Project Management and Head of Service Management at companies such as Baltic Data Center, TEO LT and Telia Lietuva.
ISDC is the manager of the Electronic Government Gateway portal for electronic public and administrative services. Currently, 650 electronic public and administrative services are provided through this portal.
ISDC also acts as the State Information Technology Service Provider, providing information technology services to more than 190 public institutions. In addition, it ensures the storage of backup copies of the main state registers. ISDC also manages the Lithuanian Open Data Portal.
