A. Armonaitė and Ukrainian Minister to discuss support for reconstruction of the country's infrastructure

The Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė will meet with Minister of Reconstruction and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov to discuss Lithuania's contribution to further reconstruction projects in the country and Ukraine's reconstruction priorities.

"We were among the first to start reconstruction work in Ukraine and we are committed to continue and initiate new projects. We have already contributed more than €14 million to the reconstruction of educational institutions, the establishment of shelters and other projects. In close cooperation with our Ukrainian partners, we are considering reconstruction options in the areas of energy, critical and socially sensitive infrastructure, and education," said A. Armonaitė, the Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

Lithuania finances reconstruction projects in Ukraine through the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund. Last year the Fund supported the reconstruction of a kindergarten in Irpin, this year a lyceum in Borodyanka and other reconstruction initiatives in Ukraine implemented by Lithuania. A mobile settlement in Borodyanka for 36 homeless families was also handed over to the Ukrainians.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation has also contributed to The Device Coalition, an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, by providing €50,000 this year to provide computer equipment for students at a Lithuanian-rehabilitated school in Borodyanka.

In order to get the infrastructure works in Ukraine underway as soon as possible, the B2Lithuania platform has also been launched, where companies can find and contribute to Ukraine's reconstruction initiatives by receiving updates on reconstruction projects and funding sources.

Lithuania is not only helping Ukraine rebuild its cities, but is also providing a steady supply of weapons and other equipment needed by the Ukrainian military and people. Lithuania's military assistance has already reached around €600 million, out of a total assistance of more than €1 billion.
