A. Armonaitė congratulates Ekspla team on winning the world's best laser award
The Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė met with representatives of Ekspla, an advanced laser manufacturing company, to discuss expansion plans and to congratulate the Lithuanian company on receiving international recognition for producing the world's best laser.
"The Lithuanian laser industry stands out as one of the country's most developed high-tech sectors and is attracting increasing international attention. This is reflected not only in the fact that we export 90% of our products to more than 100 countries around the world, but also in the achievements of our companies. I congratulate Ekspla on this international recognition, which opens up more opportunities for the growth of the Lithuanian laser sector," said A. Armonaitė, the Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
"The FemtoLux 30 femtosecond laser produced by Ekspla has been announced as the winner in the laser category of the international SPIE Prism Awards 2024. This laser is an unprecedented innovation in the laser world: it is the first laser to be cooled by Freon instead of water, a technology previously used in the semiconductor and military industries.
"Ekspla has been producing world-renowned lasers, laser systems and laser electronics products for more than 30 years and sells more and more lasers for industrial applications every year.
The Lithuanian laser industry has a good reputation not only in business but also in academic research. Today, 95 of the world's top 100 universities use laser technologies developed and manufactured in Lithuania. Lithuanian lasers can be found at NASA, CERN and other world-class institutions.
Over the last decade, the Lithuanian laser industry has made a major push into the industrial laser market, with industrial lasers now accounting for almost half of all industrial sales.
