A.Armonaitė met with Ukrainian students
Today, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė met with students of the Shevchenko University of Ukraine. During the meeting, students were interested in the consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine for Lithuania and the world, as well as the prospects for Ukraine's economic recovery.
"Ukraine and its people need not only military and economic aid, but also moral support. I am glad to have had the opportunity to meet the Ukrainian students, to whom I expressed Lithuania's full support and promise that with the help of Lithuania and the whole world, Ukraine will become more prosperous and developed than ever before after the war," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
During the conversation, the students asked how war refugees are integrating into the country, what difficulties Europe is facing as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine and what anti-crisis measures are in place. They also discussed Ukraine's accession to the EU and the prospects for Ukraine's economic recovery.
Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is implementing various measures to help war-torn Ukraine. On the initiative of the Ministry, refugees have been able to quickly find employment in Lithuania and receive assistance in setting up their own businesses. The Ministry has initiated changes in legislation to exclude Russian and Belarusian companies from public procurement tenders in Lithuania. The Ministry has also provided material assistance to Ukraine and in the summer started to coordinate Lithuania's efforts to rebuild the country.
In addition, at the initiative of the Ministry, Ukraine has been provided with computer equipment. In a short period of time, around 300 items of new and second-hand computer equipment were collected from state-owned companies and private businesses and transferred to Ukraine in cooperation with the public institution SOS Ukraine.
