A. Armonaitė to discuss Achema modernisation in Jonava

On Friday, 27 October, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė will visit Jonava, where she will discuss with representatives of Achema company the projects being implemented and present the state support for the company's modernisation.   

"To increase the country's competitiveness, we need to create opportunities for companies to renew themselves and invest in more sustainable and less polluting solutions. We are already publishing calls for companies to transform, innovate and become less polluting. Achema has already joined the list," said the Minister of the Economy and Innovation. 

In October, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation announced a €122.65 million call for innovative technologies for Achema to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing grey hydrogen in ammonia production with environmentally friendly green hydrogen. The modernisation of one of the ammonia units will reduce its CO2 emissions by 27%, equivalent to a 12% reduction in direct CO2 emissions at company level. 

In September, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation also launched a €21 million call for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to attract Lithuanian and foreign investors to the Jonava district municipality to create new sustainable jobs. In August, an €8.6 million call was launched for the municipality to improve conditions and create and develop industrial zones. 

In addition, companies in Jonava District Municipality can also benefit from other measures offered by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, including support for SME internationalisation activities and identification of new export markets; SME digitisation; research and experimental development activities and patenting for advanced and mature innovators; training of SME employees in the identified list of smart specialisation skills; development and demonstration of innovative, environmentally friendly technologies in SMEs operating in smart specialisation areas; development of innovative solutions and services based on open domains; non-technological innovations; improvement of energy efficiency in industrial enterprises. 

In order to strengthen the Lithuanian economy, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation will announce calls for funded activities until the end of 2023 with a total value of almost €1 billion. Around €365 million is earmarked for business, innovation and investment, €320 million for digitalisation of the state and business, and €268 million for a greener economy.
