A. Armonaitė to present opportunities for entrepreneurs in Lithuania to Japanese entrepreneurs
On 2-5 October, the Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė will visit Japan, where she will discuss investment opportunities in Lithuania and further cooperation between the two countries with representatives of the government and business.
"Japan is a very important partner of Lithuania, with which we are strengthening business, scientific and technological cooperation, as well as seeking new opportunities for strengthening innovation. Last year, the turnover of goods between the two countries amounted to 191 million euros. Until now, we have focused on the export and import of goods, and now we see the need to increase Japanese investment in Lithuania," said Minister of the Economy and Innovation A. Armonaitė.
On the first day of her visit, the Minister will hold discussions with the heads of Japanese science and technology organisations at the annual Science and Technology Society (STS) Forum and will visit the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) in Japan. At the end of September, ATR and the Lithuanian Innovation Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two countries in the fields of technological innovation and industrial research and development.
A. Armonaitė will also meet with the Slovenian Minister of Science, Education and Innovation, Igor Papich, and the Japanese Minister of Digital Transformation, Taro Kono. The Minister is expected to present Lithuania's experience in digitising public sector services and the opportunities for Lithuanian IT companies to operate in the Japanese market and provide digitisation services.
The Minister will also meet with the heads of the Japanese business organisations Keidanren and Jetro, participate in a Lithuanian business presentation event, and visit Panasonic and Hitachi companies.
