Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology visits Lithuania
Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė met with Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr S. Talaat to discuss Lithuania's developments in the field of digitisation. Our country has reached 10th place in the European Union (EU) in terms of digital public services, and in terms of digital services for business, our performance is well above the EU average, ranking 4th.
"In Lithuania, we are successfully implementing the reform of the digitalisation of public and administrative services, increasing cyber security and open data accessibility, and fostering digital skills in society. We are ready to share our experience and we hope to organise a wider meeting between Egyptian and Lithuanian representatives of science, business and the public sector later this year. This will, among other things, give a boost to the growth of mutual economic cooperation," said Minister of the Economy and Innovation Armonaitė.
The Minister stresses that Lithuania is successfully implementing several priority tasks in the field of digital technologies: data security, open data and its efficient use, increasing digital public services and improving digital skills of the society.
"Lithuania is fully committed to promoting digital skills at different levels: for children, students, teachers or the elderly. Digital literacy needs to be further enhanced to unlock the full potential of the digital society and economy. This experience can also be useful for our Egyptian partners," says A.Armonaitė.
The Egyptian representatives are interested in Lithuania's experience in these areas, in our possible proposals for the country, and in various forms of cooperation between public authorities and business.
Today, more than 600 services are provided electronically in Lithuania. Lithuania aims to increase the number of electronic services and make them available to even more people.
