EIMIN draws up a list of priority export and innovation markets
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Innovation Agency, having assessed market analysis and the needs of the business community, submitted a proposal to the Economic Diplomacy Council (EDC) to update the list of priority markets for export and innovation cooperation.
At the EDT meeting held on 2 April, this proposal was accepted and the updated list of markets was approved.
“Clearly defined priority markets allow us to operate in a more focused and effective manner – by concentrating our resources where the Lithuanian companies have the greatest opportunities for growth and export. At the same time, we retain the flexibility to respond to new opportunities in other markets, ensuring balanced and sustainable export growth,” said Edvinas Grikšas, Minister of Economy and Innovation.
This list is yet to be approved by order of the Minister of Economy and Innovation.
Export development directions approved during the EDT meeting: Germany, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Ukraine.
The following markets were approved for market research: Singapore, Canada, Turkey, the UAE, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India and Brazil.
The following innovation partnership priorities were also approved: the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, Finland, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Belgium, Japan and Israel.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys.
The Economic Diplomacy Council (EDC), which has been operating since 2013, comprises representatives of ministries and heads of business organisations.
The EDT submits proposals to the Government on economic diplomacy, helps to identify priority foreign markets and strengthens the representation of Lithuania’s economic interests abroad.
