EIMIN: Election of the most efficient public procurement announced

For the fifth time, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, together with the Public Procurement Service, invites organisations to participate in this year's election of the most efficient public procurement.

"Last year alone, Lithuania spent almost EUR 9 billion on public procurement. This is a significant amount of money spent each year on the construction of a wide range of facilities, equipment and services of public interest. The more efficient this process is, the more it will stimulate innovation, address societal challenges and increase sustainability. It will make the Lithuanian economy and the country itself stronger and more competitive," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, the Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

To reward the most deserving participants in public procurement, we will select winners in five categories: the most innovative, the most socially responsible, the best organised procurement, the best management practice and the most successful cooperation between buyer and supplier.

"Sharing best practice in procurement is essential to achieve even better results. We therefore invite organisations to be brave and tell us about their successes and sometimes even their mistakes. The strategic application of procurement to a wide range of sustainability and social issues is essential to improve the quality of life in society. That is why we want to publicise the innovative procurement practices of leaders that can inspire all organisations to change," says Erika Kuročkina, the Deputy Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

The most efficient procurement organisations will be invited to a public procurement conference later this year to present their successful procurements and lessons learned.

The competition is open to contracting authorities and contracting entities that have awarded public contracts between 1 January 2023 and 20 September 2024.

The deadline for applications is 20 September 2024. More information on the call for proposals is available here.
