EIMIN invites you to win a trip to Lithuania

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, together with Keliauk Lietuvoje, is launching a competition on social networks, where the winners will be awarded a trip around Lithuania and a trip to our country for a person living abroad. This initiative encourages travelers who have not yet been to Lithuania to come to our country and share their impressions on social networks.

"The number of tourist arrivals this year is already approaching the pre-pandemic level. We believe that this year's arrivals will increase by a quarter compared to last year. It is of utmost importance to continue spreading as much information as possible about Lithuania, so if you are a Lithuanian or a person with Lithuanian roots but currently living in another country, or if you are a foreigner but like our country, I invite you to join our team and invite others to come to Lithuania," says Karolis Žemaitis, the Deputy Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

During the competition, participants are invited to post photos of Lithuania's nature, architecture, attractions or other places of interest on Facebook or Instagram and challenge a friend or acquaintance who has never been to the country or a particular place to visit. You must tag the photo with #LithuaniaCoCreate and follow the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation's Facebook page. This hashtag, together with the photo taken in Lithuania, must be posted on social networks by the person who follows the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation's Facebook page and is invited to participate in the game.

Those who visit Lithuania will not only travel and share their impressions, but also compete for the grand prize of a travel package worth over €1,000 to and from Lithuania. The competition will run until 26 September this year. The winners drawn by lot - both those who threw and those who accepted the challenge - will be announced by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation on 27 September, World Tourism Day.

Last year, the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation developed a concept for working with the diaspora and started actively engaging with them. This not only helps to rapidly increase the potential for travel to Lithuania, but also opens up opportunities for the diaspora to become ambassadors for Lithuania, inviting them to search for their roots in Lithuania or inviting travellers who have not been here before to discover Lithuania as a popular tourist destination.

According to the European Travel Commission, 59% of diaspora tourists spend an average of 8-14 days in their country of origin and spend an average of €170 per day, compared to €300 per day for those coming from the USA. Many diaspora tourists do not go on exclusive trips to large tourist destinations, but rather visit authentic, small, local places of significance, directly supporting the community and strengthening the national economy.

Last year, Lithuania welcomed 1.4 million foreign tourists, and travel exports are among the country's fastest growing service exports, reaching €1.66 billion in 2023.
