International Conference Rebuild Ukraine in Vilnius
On the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, an international conference titled Rebuild Ukraine is to be held in Vilnius on 12 July. Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, will participate remotely.
“Lithuania can show leadership by providing not only military and political support to Ukraine and its people, but also by submitting proposals for rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure and economy. The international conference will bring together renowned speakers - professionals in their respective fields - whose ideas will help provide a roadmap for rebuilding Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure,” said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė, Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė and other representatives of the public sector, as well as of the European Parliament, the European Commission, and Lithuanian business plan to participate in the conference.
The conference will also be attended remotely by Denys Shmyhal, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Kyrylo Kryvolap, Head of the Centre for Economic Recovery of Ukraine, and Tymofiy Mylovanov, economist, former Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, and Oleksandr Kubrakov, current President of the Kyiv School of Economics and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine. Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, heads of local governments and academic institutions will also participate in the Rebuilding Ukraine conference.
Business and social partners in Lithuania have already been discussing possible investments in rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure. In addition, the most appropriate financing model is being explored to ensure transparent and efficient use of funds. The conference will look for effective solutions for the most urgent reconstruction works: hospitals and clinics, roads and bridges, water, electricity, gas and heating infrastructure.
Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction is not only about reconstructing buildings and infrastructure, but also about modernising institutions and economic recovery. Therefore, a new platform and a new financial instrument, the Rebuilt Ukraine Facility, is currently being developed, which is expected to bring together all the support to Ukraine from Lithuania, international institutions and other EU Member States.
