Ministry of Economy and Innovation is looking for a trade representative in Taipei
As part of Lithuania's efforts to expand its economic representation in the South-East Asia region, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation has announced a vacancy for a Trade Representative at the Trade Representation of the Republic of Lithuania in Taipei.
“This is an important event for our country’s economy, as it will be the first time that a delegate will be going to Taiwan, which has one of the world's leading economies in the field of technology. I hope that the elected Trade Representative will not only successfully lead the Lithuanian Trade Representation, but will also provide an impetus to raise more investment, help develop the export of Lithuanian goods and services, promote mutual technological cooperation, tourism and other activities," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, the Minister of Economy and Innovation.
The position of a Trade Representative in Taipei is open to persons with a Bachelor's degree in law, business, economics or political science at the least or a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in international cooperation. Applicants for the position must have a knowledge of English at C1 level.
All eligibility requirements and other information is available here.
Applications will be accepted till 30 June, inclusive.
A possibility for the Ministry of Economy and Innovation to set up Lithuanian Trade Representations in countries where we do not have diplomatic missions or consular offices was opened last September, when the Seimas approved amendments to the Law on the Civil Service.
Trade missions, or simply missions without a diplomatic status, are a common way of representing interests of a country in the field of economic policy. For example, 66 countries currently have such missions in Taiwan, including 15 EU Member States, such as Finland, Germany, France, Sweden, Slovakia and others.
