Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen to become new Deputy Minister at the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation
Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė will appoint her current advisor Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen as the new Deputy Minister in charge of Talent Policy and Innovation. Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen will replace the resigned Deputy Minister Eglė Markevičiūtė in the Ministry's leadership team.
"Attracting talent and promoting innovation are among the Ministry's priorities to strengthen the Lithuanian economy and create more opportunities for Lithuanian businesses. Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen has many years of experience in these areas and will bring her expertise to her new position to help build an innovative Lithuania. And I thank Egle Markevičiūtė for her contribution to Lithuania's innovation ecosystem and for her decisive decisions. One of the results of these decisions is the establishment of the Innovation Agency," said Minister of Economy and Innovation A. Armonaitė.
Deputy Minister Eglė Markevičiūtė oversaw the innovation and digital policy areas in which the Innovation Agency, the Register Centre, the Information Society Development Committee (ISDC), the Kaunas Science and Technology Park, the Klaipėda Science and Technology Park and the Lithuanian Innovation Centre operate.
"In the last three years we have achieved a lot of big and unusual things. I thank the Minister and her team for their meaningful work together. I will always observe and support the teams I work with in the coming years", - says E. Markevičiūtė.
Among the most significant works in the areas of the Vice-Minister's mentorship are the first innovation reform completed during the Government's term of office, the establishment of the Innovation Agency, the adoption of amendments to the Law on the Management of State Information Resources, which paved the way for the establishment of a digital embassy and the introduction of a hybrid data storage model. Also the construction of the State Data Centre of the Centre of Registers and amendments to the Law on Electronic Identification, which will pave the way for more diverse forms of electronic identification on the market.
"I will continue the work I have started on talent and innovation policy, while maintaining a priority focus on the growth of value creation in high value-added sectors. In the context of today's global challenges, this is not possible without strengthening talent and innovation ecosystems. The need for change in these areas has been growing for several years," notes N. Morozaitė-Rasmussen.
With more than twenty years of experience in the public, private and non-governmental sectors, Ms Morozaite-Rasmussen has acquired valuable knowledge in the fields of legislation, inter-institutional cooperation, the public sector of the EU institutions and Member States, and global business. She previously headed the cabinets of the Vice-President of the Seimas and a Member of the European Parliament and has worked in the fields of communications, crisis management, new technologies, digital education, energy and migration.
N. Morozaitė-Rasmussen has also headed a number of non-governmental organisations working in the field of civil initiatives, human rights and international cooperation. She is still active in Lithuanian diaspora organisations. N. Morozaitė-Rasmussen holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Political Science from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University.
