The Ministry will allocate 260 scholarships to students studying technology, engineering, and mathematics in the regions

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) is continuing its programme of targeted scholarships for students who have chosen to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at regional higher education institutions. Under this initiative, 260 monthly scholarships are planned to be granted to students who enrolled in 2026.

“The competitiveness and investment attractiveness of Lithuania’s regions depend directly on whether businesses can find the specialists they need. That is why, for the sixth year in a row, we are granting targeted scholarships to students who choose study programs in the regions that are important to high-value-added sectors. We aim not only to encourage young people to choose promising fields of study, but also to create conditions for them to build their professional futures in Lithuania’s regions,” says Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas.

Students will receive monthly scholarships of 200 euros for the entire duration of their bachelor’s degree program—four years. These scholarships will be granted to students who are admitted to state-funded programs in 2026 in the regions of Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Utena, Alytus, and Marijampolė.

Nine regional higher education institutions are participating in the program: Kaunas College in Alytus, Klaipėda University, Klaipėda State College, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in Klaipėda, Mykolas Romeris University in Marijampolė, Panevėžys College, Utena College, Šiauliai State College, and Vilnius University in Šiauliai. Higher education institutions collaborate with the business sector, providing students with opportunities for internships and work placements and helping them integrate more easily into the labor market.

In 2026, targeted scholarships will be granted to students who have chosen study programs such as computer science, computer engineering, software systems, digital technologies, and cybersecurity, electrical, mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, and automation engineering, electronics and robotics, financial mathematics, and other specializations important to high-value-added sectors.

Targeted scholarships are financed and administered by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.
