New Minister of the Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas takes office
Today, Edvinas Grikšas took office as Minister of the Economy and Innovation, succeeding Lukas Savickas.
'My vision is clear: a competitive whole Lithuania. By 2030, at least a third of new investments must reach the regions instead of just the capital city. Having worked in innovation policy, I have seen the potential of our talents and ideas; so I intend to create high-value jobs in Lithuania and establish the state as a modern, efficient and reliable business partner. My team will be result-oriented focusing on balanced economic growth in the regions, strengthening Lithuania's global image and turning innovation into real solutions here in Lithuania,’ said Edvinas Grikšas.
Edvinas Grikšas has gained experience when working at the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) and in other public and private sectors. Since 2020, he has worked in the Innovation Policy Division of EIMIN, becoming Head in 2021. Since 2024, he has been Head of the Innovation Policy Group. In this role, he has represented Lithuania in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), led the country's delegation to the European Space Agency (ESA) and contributed to the implementation of NATO's defence innovation accelerator DIANA projects in Lithuania.
He has also worked as Adviser at the Seimas Chancellery, Elder of the Kaniava in the Varėna Regional Municipality, member and chairman of several company boards; since 2023, he’s been a member of the Varėna Regional Municipal Council.
Edvinas Grikšas holds a BA in History from Vilnius University and an MA in Management from Mykolas Romeris University. He speaks English and Russian.
Edvinas Grikšas's team will include four vice-ministers, chancellor and advisers. The political team will begin its work as soon as the necessary procedures have been completed.
